Music as a hobby – prices and conditions

Student fees are invoiced by email from in June or August and in January or February.

The tuition fee for basic education in music includes an instrument and a group lesson. The tuition fee does not include the cost of teaching materials such as music books, music notebooks and music stands.
Registration fee: in addition to the fees mentioned above, new and returning students will be charged a registration fee of €10, which is a one-off payment at the beginning of their studies. A student transferring from music play school, band workshop and choir to basic education in music and preparatory instrumenta training will be treated as a new student.
Sibling discounts: we do not grant a sibling discount.
Minor instrument: pop & jazz Conservatory’s A student in basic music education can apply for a minor instrument alongside their major subject. A decision on the allocation of a minor instrument will be taken once the places in the main subject have been filled. If there is a vacancy for a minor instrument, a minor instrument may be awarded for one academic year at a time. A minor instrument includes only a 30-minute instrument lesson, not group lessons.
Free school place: a free school place may be granted on social grounds to children from low-income families for basic arts studies for a maximum of one academic year at a time. To apply for a place, please fill in the form on this link. The form and its attachments should be sent to the Pop & Jazz Conservatory’s or by e-mail to . The application period is from April to May and from November to December. Only in exceptional cases will a place be granted to students over 18 years of age or in their first year of study.
Payment arrangements: If you need time to pay the invoice, please contact immediately after receiving the invoice. It is possible to pay us the invoice in installments, but it must be agreed upon separately.
Payment reminder: if the invoice is not paid by the due date, we will send one payment reminder by post. If the invoice is not paid after the reminder, the invoice will go to the collection agency and the student’s education will be suspended until the invoice is paid in full. Once the invoice has been paid, the student may return to his/her group if there is still room.
Cancellation policy: enrolment/application for classes starting in August applies for the whole academic year (autumn and spring semester), and is binding after the first session. Enrolment during the academic year is valid for the whole of the remaining academic year. Any notice of withdrawal must be given to the Office of Student Affairs; teachers do not forward notifications. A student who drops out in the middle of a semester will be charged the full tuition fee and no refund will be made for any fees invoiced/paid.
Exceptions: the spring semester invoice can be cancelled if the termination is notified by 1 December. In the case of unexpected life circumstances (serious illness, move to another loaction, etc.), the guardian may contact the office of student affairs to arrange payment.
Students starting mid-term: Students starting after the autumn break (week 42) in the autumn term will be charged three months’ tuition for the autumn term instead of the full tuition fee. For the spring term, pupils starting after the skiing holiday (week 8) will be charged three months’ tuition for the spring term instead of the full tuition fee.
Cancellation of lessons: if a teacher is unable to teach a lesson, the Pop & Jazz Conservatory will make every effort to arrange a substitute. During the semester, both instrumental and group lessons may be cancelled twice without compensation. In excess of this number, lessons will be made up on a notified basis.
No compensation will be given for student absences.
