Founded in 1972, the Pop & Jazz Conservatory is Finland’s leading rhythm music school and one of the most prestigious rhythm music schools in Europe.
At the Pop & Jazz Conservatory, children and adults can take part in music activities. Basic education in music and vocational training are available for goal-oriented music study.

Pop & Jazz Conservatory offers a path to the stars
The Pop & Jazz Conservatory offers the leading professional education in its field in Finland. Numerous top Finnish musicians have paved their way to becoming music professionals through the Pop & Jazz Conservatory.
The Music Vocational Bachelor’s degree is a degree in music or music technology. With 180 credits, the music bachelor’s degree provides general eligibility for postgraduate study, so graduates can apply for a place at a university or university of applied sciences. In addition to the Pop & Jazz Conservatoire’s vocational degree, students may choose to complete the upper secondary school and matriculation examination by studying for the upper secondary school leaving certificate at a Helsinki adult upper secondary school (not a day upper secondary school).
A professional qualification in music production can be studied in the field of music production or songwriting. It allows you to develop, deepen and update your skills in the field of music production. The professional qualification in music production is aimed at people who have acquired basic training in the field or equivalent skills in working life. If you already have the necessary skills, you can apply for this qualification without an initial vocational qualification. The professional qualification in music production has a total of 150 credits.

Music as a hobby
The Pop & Jazz Conservatoire opens up a wide range of opportunities to pursue music and progress in your musical career. From an early age, you can start your musical career with the Pop & Jazz Conservatory’s music play school, band workshop or choir.
Music play school is a joyful and playful, but also goal-oriented activity: the lessons are based on the basics of music through singing, chanting, moving, playing, listening and improvising. The objectives progress according to the child’s stage of development and musical skills. The Pop & Jazz Conservatory also offers music play school for adults and seniors!
Band workshops are open education groups for 7–12-year-olds, where playing plays the main role. There are band workshops for different ages, including adults. There are also groups for those who have already chosen their own instrument.
After the music play school or band workshop, you can apply for preparatory instrument training, where 7–9-year-old students participate in music lessons once a week in small groups in addition to the weekly group lesson. During the preparatory instrument training, the student’s instrument changes every semester, giving them time to try out two instruments during the academic year.
In basic education in arts, 10-year-olds and older receive theory and ensemble instruction under the guidance of the same teacher. Basic education in music at the Pop & Jazz Conservatory is so-called extensive syllabus. This means that for each student, the studies include studying their own instrument, perceptual subjects, i.e. music literacy, musical knowledge and playing together. Pop &; Jazz Open also offers both face-to-face and online lessons for music enthusiasts of all levels, regardless of age or place of residence. Pop &; Jazz Open is an online store open to everyone, where you can choose your own instrument, book a course or lesson, or buy a Soiva textbook that allows you to study music independently at your own pace.
